FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Is the certificate suitable for formal job applications?

Yes. The Canadian Standard Typing Certificate is designed specifically for use in formal employment contexts. It is appropriate for inclusion in job applications, resumes, and cover letters, and serves as verifiable evidence of your keyboarding proficiency for roles in administration, data entry, customer service, and other keyboard-intensive fields across Canada.

What does the Typing Test package include?

What information appears on the certificate?

Upon successful completion of the main typing test, your certificate will display your full name, Words Per Minute (WPM), Typing Accuracy percentage, and the date of completion. The certificate also confirms that the assessment was conducted over a standard five-minute period and complies with Canadian Keyboarding Skills Standards. Each certificate is virtually proctored under your full name to ensure its authenticity.

Your package provides access to six main typing test attempts, unlimited practice tests to help you prepare at your own pace, and an accredited Canadian Standard Typing Certificate upon completion of the main test. Customer support is available seven days a week for any questions or technical assistance throughout the process.

Can I attempt the main test more than once?

Yes. Your package includes six main test subscriptions, giving you the flexibility to retake the assessment and work towards your best possible result. The main typing test is five minutes in duration. Each completed main test attempt generates a certificate, and you may choose to use whichever result best reflects your current proficiency. Unlimited practice tests are also available to support your preparation between attempts.

What typing speed is generally expected by Canadian employers?

Typing speed requirements vary depending on the industry and the nature of the role. Many administrative, data entry, and office-based positions across Canada typically expect a minimum of 40 to 60 WPM, often accompanied by an accuracy threshold of 95% or above. Roles in call centre operations, legal administration, and government services may have specific benchmarks. We recommend using the unlimited practice tests included in your package to reach your desired proficiency before sitting the main test.

What happens if I experience a technical issue during my test?

In the event of a technical difficulty, please contact our support team at info@canadianstandardtypingcertificates.com.

We are available seven days a week and will work to resolve your issue as promptly as possible. If an attempt is disrupted due to a verifiable technical problem, please reach out to us and we will review your case individually.
